Field note N°169 · Strain review

Oreoz strain

In one line

Oreoz is an indica-leaning hybrid of Cookies and Cream x Secret Weapon, credited by Weedmaps to Michigan's 3rd Coast Genetics. Leafly files it under the name O and lists caryophyllene, then limonene and myrcene. Reviewers describe chocolate, cookie and diesel, often compared to s'mores.

Oreoz is Cookies and Cream crossed with Secret Weapon, an indica-leaning hybrid that Weedmaps credits to Michigan’s 3rd Coast Genetics. Leafly files it as “O” and lists caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene as its lead terpenes. Reviewers describe chocolate and cookie over diesel, and the most common comparison is s’mores.

What is Oreoz a cross of?

Two lines that both lead with caryophyllene and limonene:

Parent Its own listed cross Published lead terpenes Flavor tags
Cookies and Cream Starfighter x an undisclosed GSC phenotype (Exotic Genetix) Caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene Vanilla, nutty, chestnut
Secret Weapon Cheese Quake x White Widow Caryophyllene, limonene, humulene Sage, blueberry, ammonia

Oreoz’s published profile matches the Cookies and Cream side exactly. Secret Weapon brings Cheese and White Widow ancestry, which is the likely source of the sharper, gassier edge that the dessert parent lacks. The pedigree explains the menu shorthand: a cookie strain with gas underneath.

Why does Oreoz taste like chocolate and gas?

Its terpene panel does not explain either note. Caryophyllene reads as pepper and spice, limonene as citrus, and myrcene as earthy and musky. Weedmaps reviewers report “chocolate and biscuit,” “creamy vanilla,” tobacco, nut and mint. Leafly’s description reads “campfire s’mores, with extra delicious hints of chocolate and diesel.”

That gap is common in dessert-gas strains. The descriptors buyers care about come from minor volatiles a standard COA does not list, and from drying and cure. For a buyer:

Question Where to look Limit
Is the Batch aromatic? Total terpenes on the COA Says nothing about chocolate or gas specifically
Is the profile on type? Caryophyllene leading, limonene and myrcene next Fits many Cookies-line strains
Has the aroma held up? Harvest and test dates The lightest volatiles fade first

Reported effects

Weedmaps tags are relaxed (52%), euphoric (25%) and hungry (23%). Reviewers describe a “happy, sometimes giggly opening” that settles into body relaxation. Leafly’s description warns that the potency “may be overwhelming to those new to cannabis.” These are buyer reports, not measurements, and none of this is medical advice.

Grow and phenotype notes

  • Leafly describes dense, chunky buds in neon and dark green with purple hues, amber-orange hairs and heavy trichome cover.
  • Weedmaps gives eight to nine weeks of flowering indoors, with outdoor harvest typically in October in the Northern Hemisphere. Leafly publishes no flowering time.
  • 3rd Coast Genetics released the original. Several seed banks have since released their own Oreoz, so a seed-grown Batch may not match the original cut.

What to check on an Oreoz COA

  1. Batch code on the COA matches the bag.
  2. Delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% dry weight, which is the federal test until December 11, 2026.
  3. Total THC = delta-9 + (THCA x 0.877). Example: 26.2% THCA with 0.22% delta-9 gives 23.20%.
  4. Terpene order: caryophyllene, then limonene and myrcene. If humulene appears high, that fits the Secret Weapon parent.
  5. Test date close to harvest, since the dessert notes are the first to fade.
  6. Lab with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and a verifiable sample ID.

Log 2026-10-03: states that move before the federal date

The federal change for THCA flower takes effect on December 11, 2026 (Section 781 of P.L. 119-37, timed by H.R. 6500). Several states closed the hemp lane to this flower earlier, and Missouri is scheduled to. As of October 3, 2026:

State Rule Effective Effect on hemp-lane THCA flower
California AB 8 January 1, 2026 Hemp flower and pre-rolls banned from retail (LegiScan)
Ohio SB 56 March 20, 2026 Over 0.4 mg total THC per container is marijuana, dispensary-only (Ideastream)
Texas DSHS rules March 31, 2026; reinstated June 6, 2026 Total-THC test, smokables banned; still in litigation (TPR)
Tennessee Pub. Ch. 526 Enforced July 1, 2026 THCA ban under TABC (Tennessee Lookout)
Missouri HB 2641 November 12, 2026 (scheduled) Intoxicating hemp becomes dispensary-only (Missouri Independent)

Michigan, where Oreoz was bred, runs a licensed adult-use market. There Oreoz is sold as marijuana under state rules, and the hemp-lane dates above do not apply to it.

Asked at the desk

What is Oreoz a cross of?

Cookies and Cream x Secret Weapon. Weedmaps credits the original to Michigan's 3rd Coast Genetics. Leafly lists the same parents under the name O.

Why does Oreoz taste like chocolate?

No single terpene on a standard COA accounts for chocolate. The measured lead terpene, caryophyllene, adds pepper and spice. Chocolate, coffee and nut notes come from compounds most panels do not report, and from how the flower was dried and cured.

Is Oreoz indica or sativa?

Weedmaps lists it as an indica-dominant hybrid. Leafly lists it as a hybrid.

Are all Oreoz seeds the same plant?

No. Weedmaps lists versions from 3rd Coast Genetics and from several seed banks, including Philosopher Seeds, Gea Seeds, Blimburn Seeds and 00 Seeds. Different releases can differ in aroma and structure.
