Gelato 41 strain

In one line

Gelato 41 is a numbered selection from the Gelato cross, Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, credited by Leafly to the Cookies family in California. Its published profile leads with caryophyllene, then limonene and myrcene. Gelato 42 is the disputed name: databases list different pedigrees for it, and some reviewers say no #42 keeper was ever selected.

What do the Gelato numbers mean?

Each number marks one plant kept from a seed run of the same cross. Growers sprout many seeds, number the plants, and keep the best few as mother plants. Leafly’s Gelato page names #3, #33, #41 and #45 as numbered Gelato cuts. All of them share parents. They differ in aroma, structure and yield, which is why the number matters to buyers.

A numbered phenotype is a single plant, so it is passed on by cuttings. A seed packet labeled “Gelato 41” contains offspring, and offspring vary. If a Batch is sold as Gelato 41, the useful question is whether it came from a clone of the original cut.

Leafly lists Bacio Gelato as part of the Sherbinskis Gelato lineup, and one reviewer on that page calls it Gelato 41. Weedmaps names Bacio Gelato as an alias. Read that as a widely repeated link that no breeder statement we found confirms.

Is Gelato 42 real?

There is no settled answer. Here is what each source says as of October 3, 2026:

Source What it lists as Gelato 42
AllBud Thin Mint GSC x Sunset Sherbet, THC 16-18%
Weedmaps Jack Herer x Zkittlez in the genetics field; its own description says Thin Mint Cookies x Sunset Sherbet
Leafly No standalone page. A reviewer on the Gelato page writes that “gelato#42 was never a pheno”

One database contradicts itself, and the third has no entry. If you are buying a Batch labeled Gelato 42, treat it as an unconfirmed Gelato-family cut. Its COA will tell you more than its number.

How does Gelato 41 smell and taste?

Leafly describes a sweet, earthy aroma “alongside hints of lavender and pine,” with pepper and floral tags. Weedmaps puts sweet cream and ripe fruit first, then citrus, earth, pine and a streak of diesel. The pepper fits caryophyllene. The citrus fits limonene. Lavender is often linked to linalool, which Leafly does not list in the top three.

Reported effects on Leafly include relaxed, aroused and tingly. Weedmaps tags are relaxed (43%), euphoric (32%) and happy (25%). These are buyer reports, and none of this is medical advice.

Strain Listed cross Source
Jealousy Sherbert Bx1 x Gelato 41 (Seed Junky Genetics) Leafly
Gushers (listed as TK41) Triangle Kush x Gelato 41 Leafly
Permanent Marker (Biscotti x Sherb Bx) x Jealousy Our file

Through Jealousy, Gelato 41 sits two generations behind Permanent Marker. The caryophyllene-limonene base runs through most of this family. Permanent Marker is the exception, with myrcene leading its published profile.

What to check on a Gelato 41 COA

  1. Batch code on the COA matches the bag.
  2. Delta-9 THC at or below 0.3% dry weight, which is the federal hemp test until December 11, 2026.
  3. Total THC = delta-9 + (THCA x 0.877). Example: 28.4% THCA with 0.24% delta-9 gives 25.15%.
  4. Terpene order. Caryophyllene first, with limonene and myrcene behind it, matches the published file. A visible linalool figure fits the lavender reports.
  5. Lab with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and a verifiable sample ID.

Log 2026-10-03: the arithmetic at 0.3% total THC

From December 11, 2026, federal hemp is measured by total THC including THCA, at 0.3% dry weight (Section 781 of P.L. 119-37, with the THCA date set by H.R. 6500). This is where typical Gelato 41 numbers land, assuming 0.20% delta-9:

THCA on COA Total THC Times the 0.3% limit
20.0% 17.74% about 59
25.0% 22.13% about 74
30.0% 26.51% about 88

For total THC to stay at 0.3% with no delta-9 at all, THCA would have to be 0.34% or less. As of October 3, 2026, the statutory hemp definition still looks at delta-9 THC (7 U.S.C. 1639o), although USDA’s pre-harvest test for licensed growers already counts THCA (7 CFR 990.25). State law decides where the hemp lane is still open. Licensed dispensaries in adult-use states sell Gelato cuts as marijuana, and the federal hemp change does not affect them.

Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, the same cross as Gelato. Gelato 41 is one numbered plant selected from that cross. Leafly credits the Cookies family in California.

Is Gelato 42 a real strain?

It is disputed. AllBud lists it as Thin Mint GSC x Sunset Sherbet. Weedmaps lists Jack Herer x Zkittlez in its genetics field while its own description calls it Thin Mint Cookies x Sunset Sherbet. Leafly has no standalone page for it. A reviewer on Leafly's Gelato page says

What is the difference between Gelato 41 and Gelato 42?

Gelato 41 has a consistent listed pedigree and a published terpene profile. Gelato 42 does not. Any real difference between two bags shows up on their COAs, not in the number.

Which strains come from Gelato 41?

Leafly lists Jealousy as Sherbert Bx1 x Gelato 41, bred by Seed Junky Genetics, and lists TK41 (sold as Gushers) as Triangle Kush x Gelato 41.
