What is Runtz a cross of?
Zkittlez x Gelato. Zkittlez is a fruit-forward indica-leaning line. Gelato is Sunset Sherbet x Thin Mint Cookies. The cross keeps Gelato’s dense Cookies-family buds and Zkittlez’s fruit-heavy nose. That combination of bag appeal and terpene intensity made Runtz the template for the “exotic” shelf from about 2019 on.

The sweet tropical character comes mostly from the Zkittlez side and from minor volatiles a standard COA does not list. A high total-terpene figure means a loud jar. It does not tell you which fruit you will smell.
Log 2026-10-03: what 0.4 mg per container means
As of October 3, 2026, Runtz THCA flower can be sold as hemp only if it tests at or below 0.3% delta-9 THC (7 U.S.C. 1639o) and state law allows it. Section 781 of P.L. 119-37, signed November 12, 2025, adds two tests. H.R. 6500, signed September 2, 2026, makes them apply to naturally occurring THCA on December 11, 2026 (CRS IF13136):
- Plant test: total THC including THCA at 0.3% or less, dry weight.
- Product test: final hemp products may hold no more than 0.4 mg total THC per container.
What the second test means in milligrams, at 20% total THC (about 22.8% THCA with almost no delta-9):

Even flower at the 0.3% plant limit holds 3 mg of total THC per gram, which is 7.5 times the container cap. The per-container cap was written for finished products such as edibles and drinks. Flower is ruled out earlier, at the plant test. Runtz sold in licensed dispensaries in adult-use states falls under state cannabis law and does not use either test.
